Last stop of our July trip was lacrosse camp with two other TRUE teammates, Zac W and Cash C.

Hayfield Reunion!

Remember this trio???

Check them out now!  So fun to reconnect with Sam and Jack after so many years!  We flew from ME to DC for a lacrosse camp and HAD to swing by Hayfield and reconnect!

 

Maine Maritime Museum

We had a day off and so we drove to the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, ME.  It was really cool!

Practiced knot tying..

Used a retro phone to call the Coast Guard for help...

Practiced dropping an anchor...

Learned how to band a lobster, and .. 

Talked with the volunteer blacksmiths.

We ate our last lobster rolls at Five Islands Lobster Co in Georgetown, ME.  Awesome view but we all agreed that Red's Eats rolls were better.

Tour of Bates College

We planned our Bates College visit to coincide with their 2025 Summer Visit Day.  They had separate student and parent tours as well as a few breakout sessions.

Bates only has one dining hall!

 

Tour of Colby College

 

Colby surprised us.  It had an amazing athletic building with an olympic sized pool, ice rink... and a reminder from our tour guide that they get 78 inches of snow!

Colby was the furthest north school our on trip.

Tour of Bowdin College

Bowdin has a beautiful campus and amazing food!

They had an Arctic museum on campus!

We were told over and over that we had to go to Gelato Fiasco!  Oh my!!!!

Travel day to Maine

Started the day catching up on work and then headed north.  First stop was the iconic Portland Head Lighthouse!

What a beautiful day!  

Next we checked into our Air B&B for the week and lobster rolls at Red's Eats in Wiscasset!  Oh my goodness!  Sorry Abbots, Red's takes the top spot for lobster rolls!

1st planned college tour day

 

Tour of Tufts.  Their mascot is Jumbo the elephant.

Then we jumped on the T to tour around Boston.

Well, sheesh, if we are near Harvard, we might as well walk around that campus too.  

Back on the T

Walked the self guided Freedom Trail throughout Boston.  Here we are in front of Paul Reveres statue and the Old North Church where he saw two lanterns lit and took off for Lexington and Concord.

Wrapped up the night meeting up with Elise and Doug Atkins.  We were stationed with them in Sitka.  The last time we connected was in July 2011 at the Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City when we are both transferring - we were moving from Astoria to DC and they were moving from Cape Cod to AK again.

Northeast College Tours

On our way to Boston, we had to swing by Boston College!

And the statue of Doug Flutie.

And dinner at Regina's Pizza in Station Landing, Boston for "America's Best Pizza!"

USCGA AIM

Thanks to "PDuddy" we were able to see a few pictures of Anderson during his week at AIM.

This was his platoon marching into Lemy Hall for their graduation ceremony.

Reuniting after a week of no contact! He's still sharing stories from the week!  Overall sounds like it was a really great experience!
