Let the games begin!  We live in in the perfect place to celebrate the opening of the Olympic games - downtown Colorado Springs in front of the US Olympic Committee headquarters.

We had great seats and were able to watch the opening ceremonies on a giant TV and Kristi Yamaguchi and her husband Bret Hedican light the torch.

We visited the Cheyanne Mountain Zoo with our neighbors Madagen and Delany.  They have a ton of giraffe's including a new baby who was SOOO cute.  It was really cool because, you can feed the giraffe's.  On Saturday they had crackers.

We kicked off the weekend at our community pool for their "Flick and Float" event.  We floated for a while in the pool while watching Kung Fu Panda 2.  After we got chilly, we bundled up on the deck with our pillow pets and watched the rest of the movie.  It was a lot of fun!

We decided to TOT on Saturday.  In Oregon, a "TOT" outing was when you became a "Tourists in your Own Town".  So..we headed to the Garden of the Gods.  It was REALLY HOT, so we didn't stay for long.  After all, we live here and can swing by ANYTIME!

After Garden of the Gods we needed to find a way to cool off, so we decided to check out Manitou Springs. Unlike Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs actually has springs! There are seven mineral springs throughout town where the drinking water runs freely and is FREE. 

The taste of the first spring was not what we were used to or expecting.  You should have seen our faces after taking a big gulp.

One of the other fountains in town.  We didn't appreciate the taste of this one either and decided that it must be an acquired taste.

We only have 104 weekends in CO so we are going to make the most of ALL of them.  We started by setting up camp in site #120 at Eleven Mile State Park.  Mom and Dad said our camp site made the top 5 all time best sites.  Now that's saying something!

We had a nice hike but had a hard time deciding which way to go.

Daddy poped THE PERFECT batch of Jiffy Pop ever!!!!

We have a milk man who will deliver milk to our door step every week!  WOW!!  This is our free half gallon sample-yummie!

Move stop 5 = St. Louis, MO.  It was a long fun day that ended with the accomplishment of earning another Jr. Park Ranger badge.  Summer time field trip homework is fun!
