Legitimate SNOW DAY

We ALL had a legitimate snow day today!  The whole family!  FCPS, GMU and the Fed Govt!  Yippie!  Bluebird skies and 4" of pow pow NOT sleet.  We weren't on the slopes but it was a pretty fantastic day!

We were told that the golf course at Fort Belvoir was the best place to sled.  No kidding, it is!  AND, it's only a few miles from our house!  Yippie!  Brooke had a lot of success on her sled that Aunt Meg, Uncle Brian, Keira and Grant gave her YEARS ago.  That Zipfy is fast!!!

Anderson had to try sledboarding...

And had some epic crashes.

Natural History Museum

On Presidents Day we visited the Natural Museum of Natural History and hooked up with Ms. Roz, one of mom's friends that she worked with in Alaska AND who is now also on the Healthy Women, Healthy Liberia board of directors.

Ms. Roz, Tony and Nico now live in upstate NY very close to Grandma Great.  They came down with their friends to DC hoping to escape the snow.  Haha, turns out they brought it with them.

Nico and Anderson checking out a rock from Mars.

We watched "Titans of the Ice Age in 3D" at the IMAX theater.  Anderson and mom saw this movie in Denver with Ms. Juanita and Olivia when Sophia and I attended a Girl Scout dance program a few years ago.  I was glad to have the chance to watch it.

The oceans exhibit on the ground floor was really cool!  We learned a lot about whales, giant squids and all sorts of strange animals in the ocean.

Sunday drive

This Sunday our family decided to visit the American History Museum.

It had been a VERY long time since mom has visited this museum and dad wasn't even sure he had ever been.

We had to visit the Hall of the First Ladies to see all their glamorous dresses!  Which one was your favorite Hommie?  We couldn't remember?

President Brookies!

Monday's TOOT

Operation Flat Stanley for Mae in Sisters, OR Monday February 2nd no school = TOOT trip up the Washington Monument.

It was windy and Flat Stanley blew around a little, like almost all the way down the mall at one point.  Don't worry Mae, we saved him.

Up closer.

Goofing off with Flat Stanley before heading up the elevator.

And then, ALL the way up to the top.  The views were so cool and because it's off season, we had the whole top to ourselves!  Grandma Ann and Granddad met us down town for our adventure and lunch.

The view of the White House.
